Lied – the hare’s happy birthplace, at home, idyllic. Menuet – the young happy-go-lucky hare frolics without a care. Scherzando – a hare of ‘good birth’, elegant, in courting mood. Adagio – contemplation; moulting time; nature can be hard. He has lost many relatives – a sobering thought. Finale – successful in life, hare strides confidently into the open field,. . . and has to run for his life. Hare Pie will be for tomorrow!
